Baked Pork chops braised in apples and cider

A real warming dish, with the classic combination of Pork and Apples, perfect English food.

Preparation time: 20 minutes   Quantity: Serves 4   Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
4 pork loin chops
1 tablespoons butter
2 onions sliced
2 apples peeled and sliced
1/2 pint dry cider
2 tablespoons wholegrain mustard
100ml double cream
5-6 leaves chopped sage

Method

  • In a frying pan sauté the chops in the olive oil till golden brown

(approx 2-3 minutes on each side)

  • Remove the pork chops and place in an ovenproof dish
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the butter to the pan and fry of the onion for 2-3 minutes until soft, but not brown, add the apples and cook for a further 1- 2 minutes
  • Add the apple cider, bring to the boil then allow to rapid boil until the liquid has reduced by half. stir in the mustard,sage and cream and season
  • Place in a preheated oven for 15 minutes on Gas 5/200*c/400*f
  • Serve with creamy mash and steamed vegetables
