Creamy Bread Sauce

Store in the fridge for a few days or freeze for up to a couple of months, serve hot on Christmas day with your Turkey.
Lovely with any roast bird- especially Game.

Preparation time: 10 minutes   Quantity: Makes 2 - 3 jars   Cooking time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

1 pint milk
2 small onions 1/2 medium
2 bay leaves
4 peppercorns
1 clove garlic
30g/1 oz butter

150g/ 5 oz white bread crumbs
30g/ 1 oz butter
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
5 - 6 tablespoons double cream

Method

  • Bring to the boil simmer milk, onions, bay leaves, peppercorns, garlic and butter for 10 minutes
  • Leave to infuse 10 - 20 minutes
  • Sieve and place the milk back in to the pan and then add
  • Stir together bread crumbs, butter, nutmeg and cream and simmer for a further 4 - 5 minutes
