Quantity: Serves 4   Cooking time: 17 - 25 minutes depending on method

Ingredients

2 cups or 9 oz of rice = 4 people
6 cups boiled water
1 teaspoon salt
butter

Method

  • Wash rice thoroughly (until the water runs clear)
  • Let washed rice stand for 10 minutes before cooking cook in saucepan with boiled water and salt
  • Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes
  • Drain all the water and put in a microwave dish
  • Slice butter over the rice then cover
  • Microwave rice for 6-7 minutes on high heat before serving


  • If you do not have a microwave after draining the rice put the rice back in the pan, add butter
  • Cover the pan and cook it for 8 -10 minutes on a very low heat
  • Let the rice stand for 15 minutes before opening the lid
