Pastry - Sweet Short Paste

A crumblier pastry, harder to work with but crisp biscuit like results.

Preparation time: 10-15 minutes   Quantity: Makes 1lb mix  

Ingredients

450g/1 6 oz plain flour
200g/ 8 oz butter
50g /2 oz caster sugar
1 whole medium egg
100 ml milk
pinch salt

Method

  • Sift the flour
  • Crumb/rub in the butter
  • Add the sugar and salt
  • Blend in the egg and milk
  • Mix to a smooth dough
  • Rest in the fridge, covered before use
