Homemade Fruity Muesli
Muesli is one of the healthiest breakfasts around serve with cold milk or yogurt, half a sliced banana and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and not only do you get 2 of your 5 a day, your body will stay full and nourished until lunch.
Preparation time: 10 minutes Quantity: Makes 2 & 1/2 lb. mix
Ingredients
120 g / 4 oz dried prunes
120 g / 4 oz dried apricots
120 g / 4 oz dried figs
120 g / 4 oz dried dates
120 g / 4 oz dried sultanas or raisins or mixed
60 g / 2 oz sliced almonds or hazelnuts
450 g / 1 lb. porridge oats
90 g / 3 oz bran or granola (optional)
1 lemon zest - finely chopped or grated
1 orange zest - finely chopped or grated
1 lime zest - finely chopped or grated
good pinch cinnamon
Method
- Chop all the mixed fruit in to small dice approx. 1/2 cm pieces
- Simply mix in to the other ingredients
- Store in a cool place in an air tight container
