Braised Red Cabbage

Cooked slowly like this, sweetened with sugar and soured by vinegar- this side dish is delicious- the perfect alternative vegetable to serve with the Sunday roast.

Preparation time: 10 minutes   Quantity: Serves 3 - 4   Cooking time: 30 - 40 minutes

Ingredients

½ medium red cabbage shredded
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
touch of water
30g/1oz sultanas
finely diced apple

Method

  • Place all in a pot, lid on
  • Cook on low for 30 –40 minutes, stir occasionally
  • Add water if needed
  • 10 minutes before the end add sultanas and apple
