Waffles I - The Doughy One
These waffles come out quite heavy and doughy a bit like a donut. So are perfect serves with a light soft vanilla ice cream and some tropical fruit - avoid heavy sauces.
Preparation time: 15 - 20 minutes Quantity: makes 6 - 8 depends on machine
Ingredients
200 g / 8 oz plain flour - sieved
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons caster sugar
50 g / 2 oz melted butter
300 ml / 10 fl oz / 1/2 pint milk (Full fat preferable)
1 egg yolk - large
1 egg white (from above)
Method
- Sift the flour, salt and sugar together
- Add the butter, milk and yolk and whisk till smooth
- Meanwhile whip up the white until firm
- Spoon in gently, trying not to loose too much air
- Use as per instructions in your waffle machine
