Strawberry’s Romanoff
Romanoff’s origin is Russian but cooked by French chefs in the royal court, I visited the Ukraine recently and the family I stayed with grew their own Strawberries, Vodka was cheap and the local cream was delicious – so I just had to try this dish.
Preparation time: 15 minutes+ waiting time - overnight-1hour Quantity: Makes 4 portions
Ingredients
1 large punnet/ 1lb/450g –strawberries
2 oz /50g caster sugar
1 shot Vodka (3 tablespoons)
1 tablespoons Grand Marnier
1/2 tsp grated orange zest (optional)
10 fl oz/1/2 pint whipping cream
Method
- De-hull and cut the strawberries in to small bite sized pieces, pour on the Vodka and stir in the sugar
- Leave over night or for 1 hour to marinate
- Whisk the cream with 1 teaspoon caster sugar, just to soft whip
- Stir in the strawberry mix, divide between 4 glasses and serve
- Can be made ahead of time – will keep fresh for a day
