Russian Style Sausages - Mixed Meat, Rye and Vodka
My Russian inspired Sausages, pack a punch with the Vodka. You could serve as a starter with Russian salad or as a main course with pickled vegetables and rye bread.
Preparation time: 1 hour+ Quantity: Serves 10 - 12 Cooking time: 10 - 15 minutes
Ingredients
100g dark rye bread diced.
150ml/5 fl oz milk
200g minced pork
200g minced lamb
200g minced/finely chopped streaky bacon
2 finely diced/ minced medium onions
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 shot vodka
1 teaspoon chopped dill
1/3-teaspoon salt
15 twists black pepper
Method
- Soak the bread cubes in the milk for 10 minutes
- Squeeze out the bread and disregard the excess milk
- Add to the minced meats and all else
- Mix in with your clean hands
- Leave to marinade together for 30 minutes or overnight
- Stuff in to soaked sausage skins- see chocolate sausages for method
