Gado Gado - Malaysian/Indonesian Peanut dressed Salad
A must if you like sate sauce, one of my favourite salads, serve on the side of a Malaysian meal or as a starter. but the salad works well with any vegetables- as long as you include eggs and potatoes, with the Peanut sauce.
Preparation time: 20 minutes Quantity: Serves 4 as a side dish Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
1/4 green cabbage or 1/2 Chinese cabbage
1/2 cucumber
large potatoes
1 medium carrot
2 medium eggs
160g/ 2 oz bean sprouts
60g/ 2 oz French or long green beans
1 lot peanut sauce/sate sauce
1 teaspoon chopped coriander (op)
Method
- Cut the cabbage in to 1 inch squares and steam or boil till just underdone
- Peel, dice and steam or boil the potato cubes till just done
- Slice the peeled carrot and cook till al-dente- with a slight crunch/ or leave raw in small rounds
- Cook the beans till just undercooked and cut in to 1 inch pieces
- Medium boil the eggs, slightly soft in the middle
- Dice the cucumber
- Toss everything together and top with some peanut sauce
- Optional- sprinkle on some chopped coriander
