Beer Battered vegetables - Tapas
I love battered vegetables as a starter with sweet chilli sauce and a yogurt and mango dip or a sweet chilli sauce, great as a starter as part of a buffet or for a crowd of hungry pals.
Preparation time: 10 minutes Quantity: Serves 4 - 8 Cooking time: 8-12 minutes
Ingredients
300 g/ 10 oz + of assorted raw vegetables of choice
i.e. - cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, carrots, spring onions, onions and baby corn
Batter
100g/ 4 oz plain flour -sieved
1 tablespoons vinegar
½ teaspoon baking powder
salt and pepper
6 tablespoons beer
enough cold water to bind
Method
- Prepare the cleaned and peeled vegetables by cutting in to strips or florets
- Whisk all ingredients for the batter together, with enough water to form a thick mix– the consistency of thick double cream
- Dip in to the batter and deep fry in hot oil till crisp and golden
