Deep fried Mozzarella

Use a good slice of block mozzarella the type used on pizzas, not buffalo mozzarella used uncooked in salads. Really nice served with homemade relish or garlic mayonnaise

Preparation time: 15 minutes   Quantity: serves 4   Cooking time: 5 or so minutes

Ingredients

1/2 block/ 125g mozzarella - 4 slices
1 tablespoon plain flour
1 beaten egg
4-5 tablespoons fine white breadcrumbs
1 tablespoons grated parmesan (optional) sunflower oil to fry

Method

  • Dip the mozzarella firstly in flour, then in beaten egg followed by fine dried white bread crumbs ( with a little grated parmesan added)
  • Deep fry in hot sunflower oil until golden brown, serve straight away
