These delicious meatballs can be spiced up using chilli and serve with pasta and home-made tomato sauce. When preparing mould with damp/wet hands to save sticking

Preparation time: 20 - 30 minutes   Quantity: Makes 16 balls or 4 - 5 portions   Cooking time: 10 - 15 minutes

Ingredients

1 red onion finely chopped
2 crushed cloves garlic
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon fresh mixed herbs

500g/1 lb minced beef (460g)
1 whole egg
60g/2 oz fresh crumbs
1 tablespoon tomato puree (optional)

Method

  • Sauté onions until soft
  • Add all ingredients
  • Cook out spices
  • Cool
  • Add fresh herbs
  • Add to minced beef , add 1 whole egg, fresh crumbs and tom puree (optional)
  • Mix well and generously season
  • Mould in to 1-2oz meatballs
