Chocolate Fudge Cake II

Apparently CookeryClubs fudge cake is very popular so I thought id give you another tried and tested recipe - Blimey I'm full!

Preparation time: 20 minutes   Quantity: Makes 10 - 12 slices   Cooking time: 1 - 1&1/4 hours

Ingredients

400 g / 14 oz plain flour - sieved
60 g / 2 oz cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
250 g / 10 oz brown sugar (any)

3 eggs - large
150 ml / 4 tablespoons creme freish
150 g / 6 oz melted butter
100 g / 3 tablespoons golden syrup
300 ml / 1/2 pint milk (any)

1 tablespoons cocoa - to decorate

Method

  • In one bowl sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder and bicarb and add the sugar
  • In another bowl whisk together the eggs , creme creme fraiche , butter, syrup and milk
  • Whisk the both together, whisking until smooth
  • Pour in to a greased 8 - 9 inch loose bottomed cake tin.
  • Bake in a preheated oven gas 4 / 180*c / 350*f - for 1 - 1 &1/4 hours or until a skewer comes out of the middle clean
  • Cool before releasing
  • Dust with the cocoa
