Baked Pork chops braised in apples and cider

A real warming dish, with the classic combination of Pork and Apples, perfect English food.

Preparation time: 20 minutes   Quantity: Serves 1   Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 pork loin chops
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 onions -sliced
1 small apple - peeled and sliced
100 ml pint dry cider
2 teaspoons wholegrain mustard
50 ml double cream
3-4 leaves chopped sage

Method

  • In a frying pan sauté the chop in the olive oil till golden brown

(approx 2-3 minutes on each side)

  • Remove the pork chopsand place in an ovenproof dish
  • Add the butter to the pan and fry of the onion for 2-3 minutes until soft, but not brown, add the apple and cook for a further 1- 2 minutes
  • Add the apple cider, bring to the boil then allow to rapid boil until the liquid has reduced by half. stir in the mustard,sage and cream and season
  • Place in a preheated oven for 15 minutes on Gas 5/200*c/400*f
  • Serve with creamy mash and steamed vegetables
