Baked Pork Wontons

These wontons can be steamed, boiled or fried. Try different fillings and cooking methods to make mixed dim sum and serve with light soy sauce.
Wonton pastry can be found in the fridge or freezer section of most Asian stores.

Preparation time: 30 minutes   Quantity: Makes approx. 24   Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Filling -
150g / 6 oz minced pork
1 small egg (or 1/2 large),
1 teaspoon cornflower
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 clove crushed garlic
1/2 sliced spring onion (use the green top)
1 teaspoon fresh coriander -chopped
1/4 red chilli -finely chopped (option)
season

24 wonton pastry sheets
a little beaten egg
oil for greasing

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients for the filling together
  • Lay all the wonton pastries out
  • Brush the edges with egg
  • Place small amounts of the mix in the middle of each won ton pastry
  • Shape by pulling the edges together to make little parcels
  • Bake for in a preheated oven 180c/ gas 6-7 for 8 - 10 minutes or until golden
