Green Dragon Meatballs (pork) with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Why “Green Dragon” ? - well they are slightly spiced with green chilli and stuffed with small pieces of green pepper. Serve these scrumptious morsels with noodles or egg fried rice. Cookeryclub also have a beef version use the recipe search.

Ingredients
Green Dragon Meatballs -
450 g / 1 lb. minced pork
1 small - medium onion - grated
1 inch / 2 cm ginger - grated
2 cloves garlic - crushed
1 green pepper - very small diced
1/2 green chilli - very finely diced
1/2 courgette - grated (optional)
1 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoons light soya sauce
pinch ground Szechwan or black pepper
pinch salt
1 egg - medium - large
100 g / 3.5 oz breadcrumbs
oil to cook
Sweet and Sour Sauce -
250 ml / 8 fl oz tomato sauce (fresh or bottled)
75 ml / 3 fl oz malt vinegar
50 g / 2 oz brown sugar (any)
1/2 small tin diced pineapple and juice (60 g / 2 oz pineapple and 3 tablespoons juice)
1 tablespoons light soya sauce
Method
- Simply mix all the ingredients together
- Mix well by hand
- Mould in to 30 g / 1 oz balls with clean damp hands
- Panfry until golden brown on all sides
- Place on a baking tray and finish of coking in a pre-heated oven gas 6 / 200* c for 10 minutes
- Serve with sweet and sour sauce
Sauce -
- Place all the ingredients for the sauce in a suitable saucepan
- Bring to the boil
- Rapid simmer to reach the consistency you like
