Prawn Jalfrazi

This is a main dish and goes well with the indian naan or even with fried rice and noodles.

Preparation time: 30 minutes   Quantity: Serves 5-6   Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

1 Kg prawns
salt to taste
4 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp turmeric powder
oil
1/2 tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp garlic
1 medium size onion chopped(cubes)
2 tomatoes chopped (cubes)
1 tsp cumin powder
Extra Ingredients:
1 tomato diced
1 pepper diced
1 onion diced
fresh corriander leaves chopped

Method

  • Clean the prawns and marinate in salt,lemon juice, and half turmeric powder
  • Saute for 2-3 mins


  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add ginger and garlic saute for a minute
  • Add onions and saute further till light brown in colour
  • Add chopped tomatoes, cummin powder, and the remaining turmeric powder and red chilli powder
  • Stir in the prawns and cook until half done
  • Add the extra ingredients (the cubed tomatoes,capsicum,onions and corriander)
  • Mix well and cook further until done
