Gujarati Sambar
Cooking time: 10 - 15 minutes
Ingredients
4 dessert spoons of oil
1lb of shredded white cabbage
2 large carrots sliced
1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1 1/4 flat teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoons of turmeric
3 to 4 teaspoons of lemon juice
2 green chillies (cut length ways)
2 heaped teaspoons of desiccated coconut
1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
Method
- Heat the oil in the pan, when the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds
- Then add cabbage, carrots and green chillies, stir, then add turmeric, salt, sugar, lemon and desiccated coconut
- Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes uncovered
- DO NOT WASH THE CABBAGE
