Chapattis - Indian Flat Breads

You can reheat Chapattis but they are much better cooked fresh. serve with Lentil Dhal and a spicy pickle.

Preparation time: 10 minutes   Quantity: Makes 8   Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

250g/8oz wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon salt
200ml/1/3 pint water

Method

  • Mix and knead all ingredients
  • Rest for 30 minutes, covered in a damp cloth
  • Divide in to 12
  • Roll in to saucer sized rounds
  • The circular shapes are then pan fried or griddled on a really hot heat with out oil until brown and blistered on both sides
