Brown Rice - Rice and Simple

By cooking your rice simply like this the rice absorbs the water, so there is no need to strain. And if you time it just right it’s ready when you are.

Preparation time: just a little waiting time   Quantity: makes 4 portions   Cooking time: 12 minutes

Ingredients

270 g / 9 oz brown rice
500 ml water or stock
pinch salt and pepper

Method

  • Simply wash the rice through a colander and place in a large thick bottomed saucepan
  • Cover with the water
  • Bring to the boil, lid off
  • Simmer with a lid on for 10 minutes
  • Leave for 20 minutes with the lid on
  • Simply fork through and serve
