Spiced Oatmeal Biscuits

A healthier version of biscuit, with the added fiber of oats.

Preparation time: 20 minutes   Quantity: Makes 30 biscuits   Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

120g/ 4 oz plain flour
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
60g/ 2 oz butter
60g/ 2 oz light brown sugar
1 tablespoon golden syrup
60g/ 2 oz oatmeal/porridge oats
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
pinch allspice
water to bind

Method

  • Sift the flour and bicarbonate and rub in the butter
  • Add the syrup, sugar, oats and spice
  • Mix in enough water to make a firm dough
  • Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of mix on to a greased tray
  • Bake on a tray for 10 minutes
