Beer Battered Mushrooms - Tapas
Serve with one of Cookeryclubs sauces and dips. I love these mushrooms as a starter with a yogurt and mango dip
Preparation time: 10 minutes Quantity: Serves 4 as a starter Cooking time: 8-12 minutes
Ingredients
200g/ 8 oz mushrooms- washed or dusted
i.e. - halved button, quarted field, oyster, chestnut etc.
Batter
100g/ 4 oz plain flour -sieved
1 tablespoons vinegar
½ teaspoon baking powder
salt and pepper
6 tablespoons beer
enough cold water to bind
Method
- Prepare the mushrooms by washing or brushing of any dirt and cut in to 2 -3 bite sized pieces
- Whisk all ingredients for the batter together, with enough water to form a thick mix– the consistency of thick double cream
- Dip in to the batter and deep fry in hot oil till crisp and golden
