A dish from Switzerland. You can prepare all the ingredients in a fondue or if you haven't got a fondue prepare in a pan and serve in a dish.
The other type of fondue is where you heat oil up and your guests dip in meats and cook at the table.

Preparation time: 5 - 10 minutes   Quantity: Serves 5 - 6   Cooking time: 5 - 6 minutes

Ingredients

1 clove garlic - crushed
300 ml dry white wine
250g / 8 oz gruyere cheese - grated
250g / 8 oz cheddar cheese - grated
2 level tablespoons cornflour
2 tablespoons water

To Serve -
crusty bread cubes

Extras -
vegetable strips
garlic croutes
bread sticks

Method

  • Bring the wine and garlic to the boil
  • Add the cheese, stirring until melted
  • Meanwhile mix the cornflour with the water
  • Add together and cook on a low flame until thickened and smooth


Tip - a cheese fondue can be made without the cornflour and water mix
