Green Dragon Meatballs (Beef)
Who says meatballs have to be Italian - make these Chinese version Green Dragon’s with sweet and sour sauce and some pan-fried noodles with bean shoots. Try the pork version too.
Preparation time: 15 - 20 minutes Quantity: 4 - 5 portions = 26 x 1 oz balls Cooking time: 12 - 15 minutes
Ingredients
450 g / 1 lb. minced beef
1 small - medium red onion - grated
1 cloves garlic - crushed
1 green pepper - very small diced
1 green chilli - very finely diced
1 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons oyster sauce or hoi sin
1 teaspoon ground cumin
pinch ground szechuan or black pepper
pinch salt
1 egg - medium - large
100 g / 3.5 oz breadcrumbs
oil to cook
Tip - use good quality lean mince for a healthier more appetising version.
Method
- Simply mix all the ingredients together
- Mix well by hand
- Mould in to 30 g / 1 oz balls with clean damp hands
- Panfry until golden brown on all sides
- Place on a baking tray and finish of coking in a preheated oven gas 6 / 200* c for 10 minutes
