Grandma’s Bran Loaf
When I say cup, you can use American cups but Grandma uses equal measures - so use a cup, an eggcup, a mug or even a saucepan and make as much or as little as you like.
This gets better with time and lasts for a good week- not that it’ll last that long-try the Northern way with butter.
Preparation time: 10-15 minutes plus soaking time Quantity: Makes 1 x 2 lb loaf tin = 8-10 slices Cooking time: 1 hour
Ingredients
1 cup bran flakes
1 cup sugar (or less)
1 cup sultanas or dried fruit chopped
1 cup milk
1 cup self raising flour
Method
- Soak bran flakes, sugar, sultanas or dried fruit and milk for 1 hour
- Add flour mix and cook in a loaf tin for 1 hour
