Italian Chocolate and Hazelnut Torte

This is a little like the British Chocolate Fridge Cake. Try adding extras like, dried fruit and spices.

Preparation time: 20 minutes.   Quantity: Serves 6-8  

Ingredients

1 large whole egg
1 large egg yolk
3 tablespoons caster sugar(45g)
75g/ 3 oz melted butter
100g/ 4 oz melted chocolate
100g / 4 oz crushed hazelnuts
100g/ 4 oz crushed biscuits

Method

  • Whisk the eggs with the sugar, till light and frothy
  • Whisk in the melted butter
  • Whisk in the melted chocolate
  • Stir in the biscuits and nuts
  • Spoon in to a suitable dish - refrigerate till set
  • Sprinkle with cocoa powder
  • Cut in to slices
