Tamarillo Chutney

Summary:

Serve with B.B.Q foods. Mix with mayonnaise 1 part Chutney to 2 parts mayonaisse for an alternative dipping sauce.

Ingredients

To make our Tamarillo Chutney you will need the following ingredients:
450g / 1 lb. tamarillos
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 red chilli - finely chopped
2 small onions - finely diced
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons water

Methods

  1. To make Tamarillo Chutney:
    • Top and tail the tamarillos and score a cross in the top or bottom and place in a pot
    • Pour on boiling water
    • Leave for a minute
    • Drain or the water, cool a little and peel of the skin
    • Chop in to small dice
    • Add all the ingredients in to a pot
    • Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened and soft
    • Cool
    • Store in the fridge in a sealed container till needed
