How do you pronounce yours? Scones are the quintessential afternoon tea favourite, served with clotted cream and home made conserve.

Ingredients

To make this Scones Recipe you will need the following ingredients:
250g/ 8 oz plain flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
A touch of salt
30g/ 1 oz caster sugar
60g/ 2 oz butter -softened
60g/ 2 oz raisins or sultanas
150 ml or 1/4 pint any milk

Methods

  1. To make these Scones:
    • Double sift the flour, baking powder and salt.
    • Add the sugar.
    • Rub in the butter - till the mix resembles breadcrumbs.
    • Add the raisins and enough of the milk to mix to a soft, roll-able dough.
    • Turn out on to a floured surface, roll to approx 2cm thick.
    • Cut out 5-8cm circles with a cutter.
    • Place slightly apart on a buttered tray.
    • Bake in a preheated oven gas 6/180*c for 12-15 minutes
