Ingredients

To make this Fruit Chutney Recipe you will need the following ingredients:
2 lb /1 kilo prepared chopped fruit i.e.-apples, pears, plums, greengage, cherries, tomatoes, plantain etc. or dried fruits like apricots, figs, prunes, tropical fruit mix etc. either mixed or individually
3 –4 chopped white onions
3 cloves garlic chopped
8 oz /200g any sugar
1/4 pint any vinegar
Add an assortment of your favourite spices- i.e. 1 teaspoon each ground ginger, cinnamon and cumin plus 4-6 whole cloves. (but you could experiment) 2
50g sultanas

Methods

    • To make this Fruit Chutney Recipe
    • Add all ingredients to a big pot – boil – simmer 50-60 minutes till  thickened, reduced, darker
    • For the last 10 minutes add sultanas.
    • Store in sterilized jars- follow the instructions above
    • If your going to keep for a long time- fill to the top, gently tap out any air, cover with a wax disk and drizzle on a thin layer of olive oil, seal with a lid and store in a dark cool cupboard
    • Once opened keep in the fridge for a week or unopened for several months
