Ingredients

To make this Sambal Kacang - Peanut Sauce II - Sate Sauce Recipe you will need the following ingredients:
100ml vegetable oil
225g unsalted peanuts
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 medium red onion
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
450ml water
1 fresh lemon juice seasoning

Methods

  1. To make this Sambal Kacang - Peanut Sauce II - Sate Sauce Recipe:
    • Heat the oil and cook the peanuts for 3-4 minutes, without browning
    • Separate the nuts from the oil, reserve both and cool
    • Grind the nuts in a pestle and mortar- place in to a bowl . Grind the garlic and onion with a little salt
    • Fry in 1 tablespoon of reserved oil for 1 minute
    • Add the chilli powder, sugar, soy sauce,water and bring this to the boil
    • Add the ground peanuts, cook gently for 6-8 minutes till thickened and squeeze in the lemon
    • Cool
    • Keep in a sealed jar in the fridge.
    • Peanut sauce will last for a week or so
