Why seasonal?

  • Flavour – seasonal vegetables are freshly picked, they are sweeter, crispier and jammed full of taste.

  • Fresher – no long transport time, no long store room time, no holding time - just picked and straight to the shop. Seasonal eating couldn't be fresher.

  • Price – buying fresh and local is much cheaper than buying transported products or stored fruit and vegetables held in expensive stores. Markets are the best place to buy as their overheads and profit margins are lower. Plus buying locally supports your local community.

  • High Nutritional value - veggies left in storage loose essential vitamins and minerals. The longer they sit around the more their structure breaks down. Hence old potatoes go soft, as the carbohydrate breaks down they become sweeter and duller in taste –increasing in calories. Seasonal fruits and Vegetables are packed fuller of essential vitamins and minerals.

  • Wasted time, energy and costs in the transportation of crops from around the World.

  • To be more in tune with Nature and the Natural cycles of Local foods, for thousands of years we've eaten the foods that surround us and that's the food that suits our natural balance.

  • Don't forget some vitamins are stored just under the skin so peel with a peeler or wash well and eat the skin, skin contains natural fibre.
