More news | Email article to a friend

extends from mid June until the beginning of August - Strawberries ripen in order of variety, Honeoye first and Sophie is the last of the season.Raspberries are best during the month of July all of which can be frozen or turned into sauces or preserves. There are various methods of freezing fruits and vegetables, some of us prefer to open freeze on a baking tray, then bag, my Aunt taught me to blanch first as this keeps the colour and taste - this method can be time consuming but worth it, let us know your thoughts and ideas on freezing food-

Food Fact of August Blueberries are a super rich source of fibre, calcium and vitamins A and C.  There have been US studies which show they have more antioxidants than most other fruit and vegetables. More studies also show that blueberries can help to strengthen eyesight and reduce cholesterol
