Essentials

Cocktail Essentials

  • Cocktail shaker – any types are good as long as the lid fits on tight!
  • Ice-crusher – either electric or hand wind-up (or use a plastic bag and a rolling pin).
  • Measurers – either in ml or oz
  • An assortment of glasses, a glass can often make the cocktail.
  • Straws and stirrers, other stuff if you fancy, del-boy umbrellas, fancy sticks, light-up stirrers, etc.
  • Ice – and plenty of it.
  • An assortment of Spirits, Mixers, fresh juices and Liquors.
  • Fresh fruit, especially citrus – depending on recipes.
  • Jug – for those big crowd Cocktails.
  • Tinned cream Coconut – for those exotic blends.
  • Grenadine, worster sauce, Tabasco and Angostura bitters- for those recipes that demand it.

Tips

  • Don’t forget to make plenty of ICE well ahead of time.
  • If you’ve got a party – make several sorts, to appeal to all tastes.
  • Make a menu list of all the cocktails with measurements, you can make with the Ingredients you have, and let your guests make their own.
  • Use freshly squeezed juice, it tastes so much better.
  • Follow recipes – to get the perfect taste balance.
  • Use chilled glasses – for a crisper taste.
  • Always put the ice in first.
